Google testing out new proximity based payment system

Google appears to be extensively testing a new mobile-only payment system called “Plaso” in a few companies. The system will use Bluetooth to allow customers to make payments when in store.

Microsoft going on a shopping spree for productivity mobile apps

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is planning to buy mobile-productivity applications that work on Apple and Google operating systems so increase their portfolio of applications that address mobile platforms other than its flagship Windows platform, as reported by Bloomberg Business. Microsoft is keeping its budget small on the new acquisitions so very popular and high value acquisitions as Evernote, may be off the table. One of the recent purchase has included popular calendar app, Sunrise.

Previously Microsoft had bought email startup Acompli, back in December, before making its mobile apps the iOS and Android versions of Outlook.

Google to work with Mattel to bring classic View-Master to the 21st century

Google is working with Mattel to bring the classic stereoscopic photo viewer, View-Master, to using its new Google Cardboard virtual reality technology. The new View-Master is still under development but you can get see a quick video review of it here. The experience uses Augmented Reality to immerse the user into the environment selected along with audio. Planned release is Q4, 2015.
